WhatsApp is working on bringing third party chat support currently available to iOS beta tetsers

WhatsApp Third Party Chat Feature: The biggest update till now in WhatsApp will come in the coming time. Currently, this update has been received by iOS beta testers. WhatsApp has to make this update live for users by March 2024. Actually, following the EU order, the company has to provide third party chat feature in the app so that even non-WhatsApp users can send messages to people running WhatsApp. The company has been working in this direction for a long time, which can be available to all users by March.

Under the EU’s Digital Markets Act, all major social media companies, which have been identified as gatekeepers and have significant influence in the digital market, will have to provide third party chat features in the app. With this, users will get the benefit of interoperability. To explain it to you in simple language, even those users who are not active on WhatsApp will be able to message WhatsApp users directly from other apps like Signal etc. Messages of such users will be visible inside the third party chat folder in WhatsApp.

Messages will remain end-to-end encrypted

Note, the interoperability feature will be an opt in or out feature. That means, if you do not want anyone to message you from other apps, then you can stay out of this option. All messages sent under the interoperability feature will be end-to-end encrypted and confined between you and the receiver.

The information about this update has been shared by Wabetainfo, a website that keeps an eye on the development of WhatsApp. Currently this feature is available to iOS beta testers. In the coming time, it will also be brought for Android.
